What is the ECO scheme?

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme is a government incentive that helps people lower their home heating costs through energy efficiency measures.

With the ECO scheme you can get free energy saving measures installed in your home.

Gas boiler


You’re eligible if:

  • You’re a homeowner
  • Your current boiler is broken or inefficient

What’s included:

  • Installed and connected to your pipework and controls
  • Electrical works associated with the boiler installation
  • Carbon monoxide detector
  • A two-year minimum warranty on parts and labour



You’re eligible if:

  • You’re a homeowner or tenant
  • You haven’t had new insulation installed in the last 5 years
  • New insulation you’ve had installed hasn’t provided the desired improvements

  • Personalised recommendation following your home survey
  • Fabric insulation installed as a priority

How do I qualify for the ECO scheme?

To qualify for the ECO scheme, either you or someone in the household must meet the following requirements:

  • Depending on the improvement you must either, own or privately rent your home which has an EPC rating of A to E*.
  • Qualify for Universal Credits, Tax Credits, Child Benefit or another UK benefit allowance**.

If you receive Child Benefit

In order to be eligible for free ECO measures under child benefit, you need to be within the income thresholds below.

    If you’re a single claimant:

  • One child: £18,500
  • Two children: £23,000
  • Three children: £27,500
  • Four or more children: £32,000

    If you’re claiming as a couple:

  • One child: £25,500
  • Two children: £30,000
  • Three children: £34,500
  • Four or more children: £39,000
